Become a School Partner
Learn how to bring SkoCode to your school in the 2025-2026 school year!
SkoCode (Let’s Go Code) is an AmeriCorps program designed to expand access to meaningful, culturally grounded computer science (CS) and artificial intelligence (AI) literacy education for Indigenous students. SkoCode members — many of whom are existing community members — serve as mentors and role models, creating engaging learning experiences that connect technology with students' cultural values and real-world problem-solving.
Most SkoCode members are placed directly in schools, where they facilitate hands-on CS and AI literacy lessons for K-12 students. They design learning experiences, collaborate with teachers to integrate CS into existing subjects, and lead after-school CS programs. By combining technical skills with cultural understanding, SkoCode members empower students to develop the knowledge they need to uplift their communities and shape their futures.
Why Partner with SkoCode?
Hosting a SkoCode member brings valuable benefits to your school community:
Bring CS to Your School: SkoCode members help make CS accessible to your students, even if your school doesn’t currently offer CS courses.
No Cost to Schools: SkoCode members receive a stipend and education award through AmeriCorps, and Indigitize provides ongoing training and support.
Flexible Support Model: Members can facilitate CS and AI literacy lessons, collaborate with teachers to integrate CS into existing subjects, and lead after-school CS programs.
Community-Centered Impact: Because many SkoCode members are local community members, they bring cultural knowledge, language, and values that foster deeper connections with students.
What Does My School Need to Provide?
To help ensure a positive experience for both students and SkoCode members, partner schools are asked to provide:
Assistance in Identifying Potential SkoCode Candidates: The most meaningful impact often comes when a SkoCode member is an existing community member. Schools can support recruitment efforts by identifying individuals within their community and getting the word out.
Basic Supervision and Support: Assign a point of contact who can: 1) Provide guidance and ensure the member has access to necessary resources, 2) Connect regularly with Indigitize staff to align on goals, progress, and support needs and 3) Pair the SkoCode member with an onboarding buddy to help them navigate school routines, resources, and culture.
Understanding of Service Roles: SkoCode members provide service and are not employees of the school or Indigitize. Members cannot be asked to supplant duties typically performed by school staff.
