Become a School Partner
SkoCode (Let’s Go Code) is an AmeriCorps program with the goal of bringing meaningful computer science learning experiences to Indigenous students. Our AmeriCorps members can serve any students at your school and can help integrate computer science into most courses and subject areas. Each of our members completes a 8-10 month term of service, and they receive in-depth training on how to facilitate computer science learning experiences for K-12 students.
Our SkoCode members can facilitate computer science lessons during the regular school day, after-school, or during summer programs. They can also collaborate with teachers by helping them integrate computer science into existing lessons.
Contact Brad Knipper and/or Madeline Leyba with questions about becoming a school partner.
How can your school become a partner school and what are the requirements and expectations?
No Financial Obligation: There is no cost to the school to have a SkoCode member. Each member completes a comprehensive background check and receives a modest living allowance through AmeriCorps, and is eligible to earn an education award upon completion of their term of service.
Supervision and Support: The school will need to provide basic supervision to the SkoCode member with the goal of providing support, development, and ensuring compliance with AmeriCorps expectations.
Member Recruitment: We ask each site to help identify potential SkoCode candidates.
Service: Members provide service, and are NOT employees of either the school site or Indigitize. They cannot be asked to supplant duties typically done by an employee.
Our SkoCode members have a wide range of skills that can benefit your school and pre-existing curriculum, including:
Computer Science Knowledge
Teaching Techniques
Indigenous Education History Knowledge
Professional Communication Skills
